Here Comes Honey Again

According to Sonny James, his 1971 number one, “Here Comes Honey Again” was written on the telephone.

Sonny commented, “I didn’t want to copy it,  but I wanted a song that was in the same vein as “Take Good Care Of Her.” I loved that song and it had been real good to me. I was trying for a song that was real simple and in that same tempo, Carole and I wound up writing “Take Good Care Of Her” on the telephone.  And when we finished, the two songs were nothing alike. Each of the songs has an entirely different message but they both had that same flow.”

“Here Comes Honey Again” hit the country music charts October 2nd, 1971 and became his  20th number one.  It was also his 16th number one in a row.

Sonny James’ chart run began in 1953 with “That’s Me Without You” and ended 72 hits later in 1983 with “A Free Roamin’ Mind.”

During his recording career, Sonny James spent 45 weeks in the number one spot.
