Shackles And Chains

According to Jimmie Davis, the idea for “Shackles And Chains” came from an old story he had been told many years before.

According to Governor Davis, “The story was about the days back when they supposedly used stones for pillows but I’m not sure they ever really did that. But that’s where I got the idea for the song anyway.”

“Shackles  And Chains” has been recorded dozens of times by dozens of artists but only one version ever made the country music charts.

The song peaked at # 95 hit for The Osborne Brothers and Mac Wiseman in 1979 on CMH Records
